Hovedformålet v…</p> <p><b>Ny side</b></p><div>Den Genealogiske Forening i Island, Ættfræðifélagið, blev stiftet den 22. februar 1945 i Reykjavik af en gruppe akademikere og andre som var interesserede i genealogi. Hovedformålet var at vække interesse for genealogi/slægtforskning blandt Islændinge, stimulere genealogisk forskning og desuden deltage i udgivelse af originale kilder, resurser af genealogisk oprindelse og andre relevante kilder s.s. census, liste over indbyggere, genealogiske manuskripter og andre demografiske data. Ættfræðifélagið har gjort følgende for at opfylde disse formål:<br /> <br /> - Foreningen har udgivet census som dækker alle Islands beboere for årene 1801, 1816, 1845 og er i færd med 1910.<br /> - Nyhedsblad udgives fire gange om året og er nu inde i sit fem og tyvende år.
